NOTICE: Google Assistant support being removed by Google
On June 13, 2023 Google is removing "Conversational Actions" from Google Assistant which is what iBroadcast uses to support these devices.
It is not exactly clear why Google is choosing to remove this functionality, but unfortunately the only other alternative to using iBroadcast on these types of devices
will be via "Casting" as you would to a Chromecast enabled device.
More information is available on
Conversational Actions Developer site if you are interested. We are as disappointed and puzzled as
you are in Google's decision to remove this. Please contact us at
support@ibroadcast.com if you have any questions or concerns.
Using iBroadcast with Google Assistant
This guide will show you how to get the most out of using Google Assistant with iBroadcast.
Linking your account with a Google Home speaker device
Open the "Google Home" app on your Android or iOS phone. You will not see iBroadcast listed as an available "default music service" (Google is not allowing new services here) so you have to go though a manual linking process. Tap the "speaker" icon, or activate the Assistant and say, "Talk to iBroadcast". That will take you though the linking process and you will be redirected to a login page. Once you log in with your iBroadcast email address and password the iBroadcast action will be available to you and you will not have to go though the linking process again.
Launch the action
Once your account is linked, you must first "launch" the action to use it. Say, "Talk to iBroadcast." If the action is not already linked with your iBroadcast account, it will prompt you to do so (see above). If already linked, it will ask you what you want to hear and you can then give it a command.
Play Queue
There is a persistant play queue of songs kept for Google Assistant. When you exit the action, that queue is kept and you can resume it when you launch the action again. Simply say, "Resume play" or one of the commands listed below.
Playlists
- "Play playlist [ playlist name ]"
- "Start playlist [ playlist name ]"
Albums
- "Play album [ album name ]"
- "Play soundtrack [ album name ]"
Artists
- "Play artist [ artist name ]"
- "Play tracks by [ artist name ]"
- "Play songs by [ artist name ]"
- "Play music by [ artist name ]"
Genres
- "Play genre [ genre name ]"
Song
- "Play song [ song name ]"
- "Play song [ song name ] by [ artist name ]"
Miscellaneous
- "Shuffle my library" (this will pick 500 random songs from your library and shuffle them)
- "Resume" and "Resume play" (this will resume playing the songs which are already in the queue)
